Michael's Biography
Michael joined Young, Anderson as an associate in May 2008 after completing summer and regular articles with the firm. Michael has a mixed practice with a focus on litigation and bylaw enforcement. Michael has been a regular speaker at the annual Licence Inspectors and Bylaw Officers Association annual conference and was a Canadian Scholarship speaker at the International Municipal Lawyer Association conference in Miami in 2009. While wearing his solicitor's hat, Michael is a contributor to the CLE's BC Real Estate Development Practice Manual.
Michael holds a number of degrees, including an LL.B and an MA in Economics from the University of British Columbia. In 2014, Michael obtained a Master of Laws at the University of Toronto with a specialty in business law. Michael's master's thesis considered economic efficiency theory and the use of municipal regulatory powers to affect the competitive balance among local businesses.
In his spare time, Michael is a keen traveller, pub-quizzer and mediocre soccer player.
