Stefanie Ratjen
Leaders in Local Government Law and Labour Relations

Stefanie's Biography

Stefanie Ratjen joined Young, Anderson as an associate in May 2017 after articling with the firm. Her municipal law practice includes advising and representing local governments on employment and human rights matters, bylaw preparation and enforcement, lease and service agreement drafting, and consulting on decision-making procedures. She has developed expertise in how local governments can respond to the proposed cannabis legislation, as well as integrate best practices into their employment policies.

Stefanie’s interest in local governance developed through working with a number of human rights and community advocacy organizations prior to pursuing her law degree. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia, and graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. While attending law school, Stefanie received numerous awards, including the Max Mousseau Award in Municipal Law and a Windsor Law Alumni Social Justice Fellowship. She was also on the editorial board of the Windsor Review of Legal and Social issues and worked as a litigator at the Community Legal Aid clinic.

When not in the office, Stefanie enjoys biking long(ish) distances, going to concerts, and learning local histories. She is on the Advisory Board for the Thingery, a community owned lending library of things.
