Indigenous Relations: Challenges, Possibilities, and the Future of Collaborative Governance

On June 3, 2021, the federal government passed Bill C-5, making September 30th a federal statutory holiday known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.[1] This national initiative is a reminder of the ongoing importance for Canadians and their governments to reflect on the legacy of residential schools and to commit to reconciliation. In light of these goals, this session will explore the current and future role of local governments in reconciliation and collaborative governance with First Nations.
