Public Hearings: A New Era?

For decades, public hearings have been a reliable source of work for litigators acting against local governments in British Columbia. The COVID-19 pandemic presents new challenges in this already difficult terrain. The Legislature has provided some relief by authorizing electronic hearings, and electronic disclosure of pre-hearing information. This session will review existing and new law on public hearings, as well as some key considerations for holding electronic hearings, or waiving hearings altogether.
